Book of Mormathon
The Book of Mormathon consists of youth getting together every day, sometimes 8 hours a day, and taking turns reading the Book of Mormon out loud with the goal of reading all 531 pages in a week. This marathon started Sunday and, if all goes to plan, will end this Sunday. We read Wednesday for Mutual from 6-9pm and by the end of the night we had reached page 225...half way through the week and halfway through the book...right on schedule! I am so proud of the youth in our ward for the dedication they have shown this week in reading the entire Book of Mormon before seminary starts next week. They are all examples to, not only me, but to everyone they come in contact with.

Happy Birthday to YOU, and you, and you...
We had a great time at our party. We played "Draw" the tail on the donkey, telephone, drop the hankie, and another game the girls came up with that was pretty funny to watch. Then we had yummy cupcakes and sang Happy Birthday to EVERYONE! It was a good time for all!!

The Greatest Gift
"By participating weekly and appropriately in the ordinance of the sacrament we qualify for the promise that we will 'always have his Spirit to be with [us].' That Spirit is the foundation of our testimony. It testifies of the Father and the Son, brings all things to our remembrance, and leads us into truth."
Dallin H. Oaks, "Sacrament Meeting and the Sacrament," Ensign, Nov. 2008, 17

Dutch Oven SUCCESS!
I forgot to take pictures of the whole cake making process, but here are a few of the finished product!
Here is a link to a recipe that is VERY similar to the one I used on Wednesday:
I will still bring a hard copy of the exact recipe we used on Sunday.
Here is a link to a Baking Temperature Chart for Dutch Oven cooking which tells you how many coals you need to place on the top and bottom of your dutch oven depending on what you are making and the tempurature you need to cook at.

Modesty in Dress
"A simplified life that brings spiritual blessings requires the wearing of simple and modest clothing. Our dress and grooming send a message to others about who we are, and they also affect the way we act around others."
L. Tom Perry, "Let Him Do It with Simplicity," Ensign, Nov. 2008, 9
Here is the excerpt from For the Strength of Youth pamphlet on Dress and Appearance:
Servants of God have always counseled his children to dress modestly to show respect for him and for themselves. Because the way you dress sends messages about yourself to others and often influences the way you and others act, you should dress in such a way as to bring out the best in yourself and those around you. However, if you wear an immodest bathing suit because it's "the style," it sends a message that you are using your body to get attention and approval, and that modesty is not important.
Immodest clothing includes short shorts, tight pants, and other revealing attire. Young women should refrain from wearing off-the-shoulder, low-cut, or revealing clothes. Young men should similarly maintain modesty in their dress. All should avoid tight fitting or revealing clothes and extremes in clothing and appearance.
As Latter-day Saint youth, you can also show respect for the Lord and yourselves by dressing appropriately for Church meetings and activities, whether on Sunday or during the week. If you are not sure what's appropriate, ask for guidelines from your parents, advisers, and bishop.
((If need a copy of the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet or card, please let one of your leaders know and we will get you one!))
Also, here are some websites that might be helpful in finding cute modest clothing; I know it can be hard at times:
